Digital Manipulation-Drawings

Not only can digital manipulation be used to change the look of photos, it can also take an original drawing and change it completely without one having to redraw it.  I have mainly used this idea to create new pieces for gifts which I have added poems to.

"How I Became"

     2007 (5x7)

For this mother's day piece, I took a colored pencil drawing I had done, cropped it and manipulated it using a "sponge" filter and added a poem I wrote.

 How I became

"As I grew throughout the years ,

You let me make my own decisions,

While keeping your advice very near.

You molded me with patience and love,

along with a little help from dad

(and, I'm sure, a little from above).

You helped me learn to trust

while also being cautious,

That it's ok to ask for help,

as it is fulfilling to lend a hand

and how to love as well as deserving to be loved. "

"Friendship"

2007

5"x7"

This piece was done for a friend's birthday.  It combines a cropped black/ white version of an original drawing with a cropped colored version placed in the center along with an original poem.

Digital Manipulation - Photography

I have always enjoyed taking photographs and like using the computer to manipulate photos to create other works.  I like that the entire look of a simple object can be changed just by using different techniques.  Below are some examples using Photoshop.

Tee-Off Poster

2007

11"x14"

Using the photo below, I manipulated the colors and size to create this poster.  The discgolfer pictured is my fiance, Kelly.

These two pictures have been manipulated using different colors and filters with spotlight added.  The original picture used in picture on left was of some portulaca (a  flowering plant).  A combination of portulaca and a mum bloom was used in the picture on the right.
